What is CIGIE?

The Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) is an independent federal body that promotes transparency, accountability, and efficiency across government agencies through oversight, audits, and investigations. Established under the Inspector General Reform Act of 2008, CIGIE coordinates the efforts of more than 70 federal Inspectors General (IGs), ensuring government programs operate lawfully and effectively.

CIGIE supports anti-fraud initiatives, cybersecurity audits, data analytics, training, and policy development to detect and prevent waste, fraud, abuse, and misconduct in federal programs.
